One Lovely Mess does not require you to sign over the rights to your work. In other words, the work you submit can be either previously published or published elsewhere even if it is chosen to be included in the magazine.
With this being said, many other publications do not permit you to submit previously published work. So, if it is your intent to get a piece published elsewhere as well, double check their guidelines before submitting to OLM.
To be an editor for One Lovely Mess, you must be an 11th or 12th grade student. Being an editor means you will be in charge of selecting the works which will be included in that year's magazine. Meetings can be either virtual or in-person depending on your schedule and location. The dates, times, and frequency of the meetings will be determined based on the collective editors' schedules.
Absolutely! Pieces are selected anonymously, so as long as you don't tell the other editors which work is yours in order to eliminate bias, then feel free to submit.
Yes, students are allowed to submit up to three pieces total.
While One Lovely Mess is currently only accepting written work, there is hopes to one day expand to feature a digital version of the magazine which will include photography and videography.
